The Khandallah Business Improvement District (BID)
Formed in 2015, the Khandallah Business Association (KBA) is a local business organisation focused on promoting Khandallah as a place to shop and do business. The KBA receives funding from the Wellington City Council by way of a targeted rate which is levied on and collected from non-residential properties within a defined boundary, the Khandallah Business Improvement District or BID (Khandallah Village). You can read more about BIDs on the WCC website here.
The KBA is an incorporated society with an annually-elected committee who represent, support and promote all the businesses within the Khandallah BID area, develop a long term strategic plan for the BID area, and advocate on behalf of its businesses with WCC and other organisations.
Provided their business operates from a property which pays commercial rates, business owners within the BID boundary area are automatically members of the KBA.
Business owners located outside the BID boundary area are welcome to join the Khandallah Business Association as Associate Members. Benefits of Associate Membership include: a business listing on this website, quarterly newsletters from the KBA, the opportunity to be promoted on the Khandallah Village Facebook page where appropriate, pride in knowing you are part of the Khandallah Business Community. Please note that Associate Members do not have voting rights at AGM meetings, as per our constitution. A nominal annual charge of $150+GST applies. If you are interested in becoming an Associate Member please contact us through this website.
Recent past projects include:
● the installation of the street security cameras (and ongoing monitoring by the committee)
● contributing to the Elephant slide and Library playground development
● decorating the Village and helping to coordinate carol singing at Christmas
● supporting different events such as the Rotary Christmas Fair
● upgrade of this website
